The Constitution of the IMPC was formally adopted at the time of the XXII IMPC held in Cape Town in 2003. This was largely due to the significant efforts of Dr Robin Batterham and Professor Eric Forssberg. The implementation of the Constitution began incrementally at the XXIII IMPC in Istanbul and the Council intends to fully implement the Constitution at the time of the XXIV IMPC in Beijing in 2008. Members of the Council, the International Advisory Committee and, indeed, all regular delegates to IMPC events are encouraged to become familiar with the Constitution. Persons who wish to propose amendments to the Constitution should submit these to their country representatives on the International Advisory Committee who will be asked to consider submitting these to the IMPC Council for its consideration. Having given consideration to any such proposals, the Council will submit any proposed changes to the Constitution to members of the International Advisory Committee for comment before the amendment is adopted. Subject to confirmation at the 2007 meeting of Council, the final decision in making any such decision is presently with the IMPC Council.

The Council welcomes proposals for amendments to the Constitution and these may be submitted to the Secretariat of the Council (meg.winter@uct.ac.za)
